Aloha! I am so glad that you have come to visit.
My purpose in life is to help to make the world a better place by inspiring and uplifting people through my voice – the gift that the Divine gave me to share with others. It is also to share the way of life that is reflected in the chants and songs of the ancient traditions that I have been honored to work with for many years. I am particularly drawn to the Hawaiian tradition – a natural, gentle tradition that incorporates integrity, freedom, and sacredness as a means of empowering us to connect more to our heart to live our best life. It is what they call “Living in the Spirit of Aloha.” You can hear this in Aloha Is My Home, the signature song of my CD, Ulana, The Way of the Heart .
My Early Training and Experie
nce
From an early age, I seemed to have this inner sense of the old ways. I also had a wonderful model – my Dad. He was a gentle man who found himself living through the horrors of war in France during the Second World War. He came home with those images and horrors still living within him and haunting him; yet he went on with his life, creating a home of love and security for his family and always making others in his community and extended family feel nurtured and accepted, especially through laughter and compassion. He was a true hero and started me on my journey of learning how to live from a place of love, forgiveness and community no matter what happens to you in life. That journey took me through exploring many different spiritual traditions and healing techniques. It was when I connected with that intangible force that is the foundation of everything that is Hawaiian – the Aloha Spirit – that I recognized what my Dad had taught me. I knew I had come full circle and was “Home”.
“Living Aloha” encompases so much more than just "hello" and "goodbye". To the Hawa
iians, Aloha is the way of the heart. It is what weaves everyone and everything together. It is recognizing the Divine within oneself, within each other and within every other being and thing on this planet. The acronym for aloha means: to be unassuming, to be in unity, to be kind, to be humble, to be patient and perseverant. It is the connection between all cultures and countries; between the generations; between this world and the next. It is our connection to the ‘aina, the land/nature. Aloha was so much a part of the ancient Hawaiian people, because for the Hawaiians, ‘ohana (family) was the most important thing – they believed that we are all one family, with everyone and everything. To live in Aloha is what maintained Pono/Harmony for the ‘ohana
, the family, to survive. You can hear and feel this in the track, E 'Akahai.
Through my study of this and other ancient traditions, I bring you new dimensions of thought, experience and practice – but these ways of being are not new. They are very ancient and have tremendous roots in history. In going back, you can learn how to go forward to transform your whole body/mind/spirit system, live the life you want, and help to make this world a better place.
O ka Maluhia no me oe - Peace be with you!
